  1. 1981

    The former Chrysler operations sold to the VW Group in Brazil officially becomes the company Volkswagen Caminhões with the first VW trucks in the world.

  2. 1993

    The first Volksbus bus chassis is presented to the Latin American markets.

  3. 1996

    After a construction period of just 153 days, the present-day main factory opens in Resende, Brazil.

  4. 2004

    A second plant, in Mexico, starts production.

  5. 2017

    The brand expands its portfolio with a new segment: light commercial vehicles for cargo transportation with Delivery Express.

  6. 2020

    Volkswagen Truck & Bus reaches the milestone of one million vehicles produced and launches the biggest VW vehicle in the world with VW Meteor.

  7. 2021

    A new era at VWTB: the groundbreaking serial production of e-Delivery, the first electric truck totally developed and manufactured entirely in Latin America.

  8. 2024

    VWTB advances in its internationalization strategy with a major milestone: a new assembly line for its trucks and buses in Argentina.

Volkswagen Truck & Bus has grown constantly since its beginnings more than 40 years ago. Today, three plants produce a wide range of commercial vehicles, from light to extra-heavy-duty trucks and buses.
